Every terminal needs a browser, whether you are browsing for a file to download or reading news. You need one, (unless you memorized the internet and know how to use wget :P).
I will write about the three most popular ones here, and you can figure out by yourself which one to pick.

How to install Gentoo Linux on an external USB disk.

First you need the boot cd image. You will get the minimal install cd from here: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/where.xml
Make sure you get the correct one for your arch (and remember to get the minimal install cd, not the live gui one).
Download and burn the image to a disk. I will be installing Gentoo on an USB external HD, but feel free to install Gentoo on your internal HD if you wish.

Plug the USB disk/pen into your computer, insert the CD, reboot.
Hopefully you will be greeted with a GRUB boot menu. Select Gentoo.

When you install Mozilla Firefox there are many things you can change to make it better. There are settings to tweak, addons to add and you will most likely have several bookmarks to save and organize.
